íOS 9 Low Power Mode

Every time your iPhone battery goes around 20%, the iPhone prompts you to turn on the Low Power Mode. This very function adds to the battery life and you can manually enable the option.

Go to Setting => Battery => Low Power Mode => Toggle the green button to turn it on.

As soon as your battery touches 90% the Low Power Mode goes automatically off.
But as you can see, it’s the Facebook app that eats up almost 72% of battery of my iPhone. So in order to resolve this, I’d better log out from Facebook if I am not using it for a long time.;)

Smartphone Battery Charging Myths

Things are no more the same with smartphone batteries as it used to be a few years back. Li-ion or Li-po batteries are come a long way since their older siblings called Nickel cadmium cell phone batteries and so have their rules of charging.

But there are certain myths about smartphone battery that refuse to die.

Myth #1: Charging the battery all night damages the battery.
Truth: Smartphones these days are smart enough to know when the battery is fully charged. They stop pulling power after that.

Myth #2: Charge the battery only when it’s completely discharged.
Truth: Lithium based batteries work in charge cycles and you can charge it whenever you want.

Myth #3: Closing the apps that run in the background adds some extra battery life.
Truth: Once you leave the app it doesn’t consume resources rather it just stays there in idle mode. Closing the apps only puts extra pressure on CPU and battery. And when you reopen them the phone has to reload it once again which in turn stresses the RAM as well as the battery.

Myth #4: Using third party charger harms the battery.
Truth: Unless you use a sub-standard or low quality charger or a tampered power socket, there’s absolutely nothing to fear. Modern USB chargers are standardized and they have different charge time results. But they don’t put the battery at stake.

So it’s quite clear that just like the smartphones their batteries are also getting smarter too.

The Importance of Online Smartphone Reviews

Buying a smartphone happens to be a very important decision. Unless it’s well-thought-out you might end up with a phone that fails to understand your needs. So collecting a good amount of information about the phone is as important as the decision itself.

This is where the online smartphone reviews play a significant role. The online smartphone review websites are said to be one of the biggest sources of authentic information on smartphones. These websites publish as many information as possible including their first-hand experience with the phone as well as its price, images, hardware, software details, based on which you can easily take a decision. They also post real user reviews on the website which are less likely to have any personal biases. So basically these sites are there to help you in selecting a smartphone that’s right for you and make your decision worthwhile.

In brief, this is what they do for us.

# They tell you the correct price.

# They explain the features and specification and their respective implications.

# They show the images from different angles so you already know how your phone looks like.

# They remain neutral and they don’t promote a particular brand for their own benefit.

# They state the downsides too because they value your gadget needs.

3 Smartphone Camera Tips We all Should Know

The Smartphone cameras are much smarter than we think. But how many of us really know how to make the best out of it. Here are some simple tips, which I guess we all should know.

Use Volume Rocker to Click a Pic

Sometimes a good selfie or a decent picture is all we want at the end of the day. And with a good smartphone camera along with some basic photography skills it’s pretty easy to achieve. But many of us hardly know that the volume key can also be used to click a picture and it works for both the rear camera and front camera. This is more convenient as well as handy while taking selfies, since tapping the virtual button on the screen becomes very challenging.

Use “Panorama” While Travelling

The Panorama feature in your smartphone captures big, wide vistas as you move or tilt the camera either horizontally or vertically. But you can surely prove your photography talent by using the feature while travelling. All you have to do is to grab window seat and start shooting the beautiful landscapes or woods outside using the Panorama. But as you do it, don’t forget to keep your hands as steady as possible.

Use the Smartphone Front Camera for Quick Touch-ups

If you have a smartphone with front camera you no more need to worry about your last minute facial touch-ups. Since it doubles up as a mirror, you can use it to make sure you look great and presentable before an office meeting or a date.
